Misc: Jamison Olave arrived on the scene at the start of the 2008 season on loan from Deportivo Cali, and quickly became a force supplanting Mantias Mantilla.  He had a solid second-half in 2008, and repeated that with an outstanding 2009 campaign.  His loan was bought out after the 2008 season, as he signed a 4-year deal with the team.

Olave had surgery after the 2009 season to clean out torn cartilage and bone spurs, but is expected to be fully recovered in time for the 2010 campaign.

Olave is also known for scoring RSL’s first goal at Rio Tinto Stadium in the 2008 opener of the facility.

KIR SCOUTING REPORT

Jamison Olave is a monster on the soccer field.  He has tremendous size and strength.  He is very aggressive with tackles, and typically quite accurate with them as well. Olave has quick reactions, and great speed allowing him to recover for other players, or when he himself is initially beat on a play.

One of the knocks on Olave is his propensity to pick up cards.  During the 2009 season he had 6 yellow cards and missed 3 matches due to discipline.

Olave is fairly good with his feet, and will be seen occasionally making a foray forward with the ball at his feet.  He is also a very good header of the ball which has allowed him to notch 5 goals in his two seasons with RSL.

Overall Olave is a complete rock along the Real Salt Lake back line.  His presence changes the game for his opponent, providing both a physical and mental impediment to the goal.
