Barca beat Levante to stay top of the table, double the number of goals in the season
Barca have continued their perfect start in the new La Liga season with a 4-1 victory over Levante. Messi scored one penalty while missing one but that didn’t matter as they won comfortably.
At the moment, last year’s treble winners are on top of the table with 12 points and are ahead of three teams including Madrid who are at 10 points themselves.
Yet it was Marc Bartra who opened the scoring from a cross after Barca was frustrated for almost 50 minutes by a well-organized Levante side.
This led to the game opening and where Neymar scored one apart from winning a penalty that Messi managed to score. As for the other penalty, he hit the ball down the middle but over the crossbar.
Just as surprising as it was for Messi to miss a penalty, Casadesus managed to score for Levante as Ter Stegen could not control a cross. However, it was a little too late since the game was already over.
Given the stat that Barca had only scored about four goals in their last three La Liga games, they almost doubled the score with this game with Levante.
For the most part, Munir or Sandro didn’t do much even if there were plenty of chances in the first half. There was also a rare header from Messi that went over the crossbar as well.
What was also clear was that Levante played most of the game in their own half while waiting for the counter as most clubs do against Barca.
What must also be pointed out was the Messi was appointed captain for this game against Levante.
