Nasri could return to face Newcastle

Samir Nasri, Manchester City’s playmaker might return to game in this Wednesday’s Capital One Cup match against Newcastle set to hold at the Etihad Stadium. The French player has so far missed a total of seven games with City since his injury. He has since undergone groin surgery and has returned to training since last week.

If Nasri returns for this match, then the only player that would be marked unavailable for the holders would be Frank Lampard. Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini could also attribute some rest to other key players even though he affirms that this particular competition is of great importance to them. Pellegrini affirmed in an interview that his aim with the club is to win trophies, irrelevant of which competition it is.

Newcastle has recently been having good games with winning scores in the previous two games and Pellegrini is bracing him for a tough competition against the club. Newcastle player Daryl Janmaat has expressed hope that the pressure set upon his manager Alan Pardew has been veiled by the club’s recent regain in form.

The Magpies had a horrible start to the campaign failing to win none of the first six Barclays Premier League games they took part in and some fans even called for Pardew’s sacking. The feeling of disappointment towards the team seems to have lifted, with the club gaining seven points out of their last three matches. Recent wins were against Tottenham and Leicester. Pardew could now further bring him team to strength by scoring against City on Wednesday.
