Suarez: City fans´ boos helped inspire double

Luis Suarez can be quite sarcastic when he wants to. He has recently credited Manchester City fans’ booing as the motivation factor that brought him to score double for Barcelona is a recent Champions League match.

The Barcelona striker had stated that the boos coming for City fans had driven him to give the best of himself in achieving the double in his side’s 2-1 UEFA Champions League victory.

Suarez play at the Etihad Stadium had placed Barca in the lead of the match at the last-16 tie. That’s before Sergio Aguero scored one in favor of City.

Lionel Messi strived for an opportunity to bring in a late away goal, the third of the match but Joe Hart saved his penalty.

Due to his several notable indiscretions during his time at Liverpool, Suarez had long been in the role of the villain in England and has typically been given a hostile welcome in the country. The last match with City was of no exception. However, the hostility only acted as a fuel for him to show his goalscoring abilities.

He further added that there are certain players who get more inspired and motivated when fans shows their displeasure towards them. He is obviously one of these players. He said that it is pleasing to help his team achieving goals in important competitions such as the Champions League. It is however more pleasing to come back to England and to win against a team he likes to have as opponent.
